MELBOURNE BUSYING ITSELF FOR THE ONSLAUGHT OF YOUNG LAWYERS IN 2012!
In 2012 the ALSA Conference is once again heading south for a turn in Melbourne. Last held there in 2006, next year's Conference is shaping up to be one of the most jam-packed yet.
The Conference itself is being held in the CBD and is jointly hosted by all six Victorian Law Schools. That’s Deakin, La Trobe, Melbourne, Monash, RMIT and Victoria Universities. Competitions, Council and the Australian Legal Education Forums will therefore be spread across the city at the many city campuses.
Just a short 15 minute tram ride away is the accommodation. ALSA Conference is once again proud to be partnering with Mirvac to stay at our official accommodation sponsor, The Sebel & Citigate Albert Park Melbourne. This beautiful hotel is located just next to the picturesque Albert Park Lake (home of the Australian Formula One Grand Prix) and will provide our base for the week.
2012 will have plenty for the general delegates to sink their teeth into including day trips, legal education forums, speakers forums and workshops to help you hone your legal knowledge and skills. The theme of this year’s Conference is ‘Advancing Australia’s Future Leaders’ and will focus on how to ensure law students are well rounded, globally conscious citizens. This recognises that many delegates will go on to positions of leadership, not just in government, but also in legal and non-legal sectors.
Finally, Conference will, as always, have more social events that you could possible know what to do with, ensuring all delegates can not only work and rest but also play!
